Random Thoughts

1.  It is amazing to me what a couple of hours sitting on a porch with girlfriends and wine can do for your mindset and soul.  I am always thankful for those moments.

2.  I have bought three pairs of royal blue shoes in the past 2 1/2 weeks.  Hey, my school colors and beloved Gator colors both involve royal blue.  In my world, that just means they are great investments :)

3. Sony's reader store pisses me off.  Like to the extent that I think I am getting a Nook.  I LOVE my ereader, but have had so many issues with the store that it's just not worth the hassle anymore...GRRR.

4. One of my oldest and bestest friends turns 30 this month and we are going to WWOHP for the weekend.  I can hardly contain myself over getting to spend a weekend with her and my cutie patootie nephew.  We are talking countdown in the planner geeked out!

5. My crafting obsession has continued, much to my OCD need to clean up the piles of crafting supplies strewn through my dining room.  Todays Crafts:
Pickle Jar + Scrap Paper + Modge Podge + Vinyl = Memory Jar
We put memories on slips of paper and put them in the jar.  On New Year's Eve, we will pull them out and read them. :)

Jay found this quote online and wanted it for the shop.
Voila!
Thinking I need to paint the stand white...

6. I hate moving.  Just thinking about packing has me aggravated...

Until next time!!

"Craftcation"

I bought a Silhouette Cameo last month and have died and gone to creative heaven.  If you have not heard of a Silhouette Cameo yet, google it!  Seriously...I'll wait... Okay, so is your mind blown?!  Mine was.

Mom had been planning to come down and visit on her Spring Break to see the shop and get some sunshine, and once the Silhouette was purchased the planning really began.  In true to us fashion, we soon began to concoct a huge list of crafts to create while she was here.  There were even Pintrest boards dedicated to her "craftcation" as we began to call it...yes, it was that serious.  Some of the crafts were pintrest inspired, others were just from us.

So...I apologize in advance for the amount of pictures to follow, but I have to share our creations..

Tutorial Tuesday - Yarn Wrapped Wreath with Felt Flowers

I have been on quite the crafting spree lately.  It has been my way of relaxing... I have also had some requests to post some tutorials, so here it goes...

A couple of weeks ago, we had our Spring football game, The Orange & Blue game.  In honor of the Spring taste of our beloved Gator football, I decided to make a fun wreath:
Materials Needed:
- A wreath for your base ( I used a grapevine because they had them super cheap at the dollar store, but next time I will go with a Styrofoam)
- Yarn
- Felt

Wreath: Wrap the yarn closely around the wreath.  I dabbed hot glue randomly as I went, just to keep it in place.  Wrap the entire wreath.

 Wrapping close and tight.

 Half way there!

Complete! The styrafoam wreath will give it a smoother look.

Felt Flowers:
Step 1: Cut strips of felt about 1 1/2 inch wide.  Fold in half lengthwise and glue just along the edge.

Step 2: Cut slits in the felt.  Stop when you get to the edge that is glued.

Step 3:  Begin to roll the strip.  I add glue every once in awhile to secure it.

Step 4: Glue the end and fluff up the flower.

Variations:
The flowers will look different depending on how you cut the slits and how wide or small you make them:

Little Straight Slits

Wide Straight Slits

Diagonal Slits
How long your felt strip is will also effect how your flower looks.  If you want a larger, fuller flower go for a longer strip.
